MK Illumination’s lighting with a message
Highlighting regional diversity
It’s no secret that our lighting concepts are always tailored to local conditions, highlighting regional diversity and fostering cultural identities. But with recent schemes we have also been able to integrate significant messages in some of our projects, in order to bring about a more conscious awareness of our world.
For example, one lighting display in Sandton City, Africa’s most renowned shopping centre, utilised the installation to highlight the plight of the highly endangered African rhinoceros to the global public.
The message at the Galleria Porta Di Roma, Italy’s largest mall, was equally as pertinent – “Together”, a message of peace, was the focus of the festive lighting display. Illuminated words from various languages were projected onto the façade of the building, flanked by a giant contemporary Christmas tree with the colours of the Italian peace movement.
Festive lighting installations tell of time-honoured customs and Christmas traditions. In Stockholm, 30 streets and squares did so via handmade symbols typical of the region. St. Lucia, lussebolle, and the Yule goat, among other motifs, created an emotional, dreamy atmosphere.
